Pretty Little Things (and more creating)

I'm a big fan of charming little details. There's just something about small, pretty things that give an arrangement character, and make it feel complete.
Yesterday I was working on a table arrangement out on the deck, and I thought I would show you a few of my favorite pretty little things and a couple of projects.

A friend gave me this sweet little deer candle a few years ago, and I just haven't been able to bring myself to burn it!
Seriously! Could you light this little head on fire??
This needle-felted doll is another favorite "pretty little thing". My daughter made it for me years ago, and I take her out every Fall to add some sentimental charm wherever she's placed. You can see more about my daughter's creations at The Clover and the Bee. I love the tiny, glitter-trimmed bird flag! It was from my birthday celebration last month. (I shared about it here. )

This is one of the projects I worked on recently. (I promise I will work on my photography skills!) I have had a stack of these old drawer fronts (from a Habitat for Humanity ReStore) for some time, and there's that old sheet music again! I added some cabinet handle "feet" to create a sort of centerpiece pedestal. It kind of adds an interesting layer to the arrangement, don't you think?
Normally, I'd be tempted to paint a piece like this, but after trying out the sheet music with the natural wood tone, I decided it seemed more "woodsy" and fall-ish as it was. I ended up leaving it on the top of the piano-for now, anyway : )
Teeny tiny pumpkin and birds.

My other projects started out looking like this. I picked up two of these wall sconces at a local thrift store for a couple of dollars. I liked the shape and the rustic looking metal. Hmm...possibilities...

I took one of them apart and used some of the metal parts to make two cute little votive holders.

The other one I decided to reconfigure a little and turn in to a candle sconce.
The dark wood part I painted white and distressed. I added a vintage mold to the top to hold a candle. I had a hard time deciding if I should paint it to match the other metal, but ultimately decided I liked the contrast of the aged silver tone with the dark metal. I attached it to a piece of beadboard, adding a sawtooth hanger on the back.
I'm already imagining some wintery evergreen branches on the beadboard! Oh well, soon enough.....

Thanks for coming by to take a look at what I've been up to!
Wishing you all a wonderful week~
